Protecting the health of our communities means taking serious threats like measles seriously. Measles is not a harmless childhood illness—it’s a highly contagious viral disease that can cause severe complications, including permanent immune system damage even after recovery. Scientific studies show that measles can erase the body's "immune memory," leaving individuals vulnerable to other infections for months or even years. That’s why vaccination is critical—not only to prevent outbreaks, but to preserve long-term immune health. I support strong public awareness campaigns and access to measles vaccinations, especially in schools and high-risk communities. With the rise in international travel and immigration, we must be vigilant to prevent the return of diseases we once had under control.
